The Second Week of My Cancer Recovery

I did a lot of research on how best to treat the prostate cancer,
To have radiation or to go under the knife,
Knew once I read about the dangers of radiation,
I didn’t want to take a chance for it to creep back somewhere else in my body 10-20 years later.

No real pain since the second or third day,
I marvel at the wonder of having major surgery
And hardly any pain that I can recount,
From the cutting of my insides, to get it out.

Two weeks after Dr. Naveen Kella cut the cancer out,
Eight pounds down now, and not feeling so strong or stout,
But I’m alive and still here,
Thanks to God, and my spirit to persevere.

  1. Thank God Bobby!
You look well and are well. Even laughing!
So when are you being released?
Are you getting hungry? Or is it too soon? You don’t look like you lost any weight. That’s awesome. I’ll keep praying for your speedy recovery.

  2. Hi Javier! I spent one night in the hospital, 5 days with a catheter, and now, as of today, (Wednesday 4/3/24), it’s two weeks since surgery, and feeling no pain, doing well. I’ve got to lay off the gym for another 4 weeks but other than that, I thank God I am well, and cancer free!
