My Good Friend Felix

He hailed from Nixon, Texas.
A good friend of mine from long ago.
Back then we would spend a lot of time together on “Relief”, and it felt so right.
Life then was fun, seemed uncomplicated, and slow,
We’d work in a plant during the day, and then go bowling at night.

The way I recall our bowling sessions,
I recall winning a few times.
However, in reality, I know he would always beat me, I now must confess.
But who scored the highest; now don’t seem that big a deal,
For it was the great times, the laughter we shared; the bond of good friend, that was then, the ultimate appeal.

For in this day and age, with all our modern computers, tech phones and such,
Life has gotten too fast, and we do not keep up with our friends, as we should.
So to my friend, for all these years of not keeping touch, I now apologize much.
For we shared that certain something back then that we both understood.
When life was fun, and bowling and sharing a few beers with a friend was really good.
