Always with his sharp wit to keep us laughing,
Our Holy Cross Alumni Brother Roger,
The noblest of character,
In all the years, that I’ve known him,
He’s never changed, well bestowing, with his humor,
I can always see him with his smile filled to the brim.
Roger told me a story, like only he tell it,
Begins with his wife Josey,
Getting called back on a routine heart echo,
Finding out a congenital heart defect from birth,
With a hole in there that could have killed her long ago,
But three kids later, still alive, wouldn’t you know?
Finding a rare Heart specialist to do what only he can do,
Flying across the country to Ohio,
Repair it, nonchalantly, like changing a spare tire.
Looks me in the eye,
And tells me he gives thanks everyday to the Big Man upstairs,
For all the answered prayers that she didn’t die.
So, I now know why Roger says to me, “life is too short,
If we can’t laugh, we are doomed;
Thanks to the Big Guy upstairs,
Said he has had more blessings,
Then what he ever thought he would have,
With family and friends, is all he needs”.
I too thank the Lord above,
For bringing me back home
After years of being away,
For the blessings of dear life-long friends, like Roger & Josey,
From long ago to make my day, everyday.
What a beautiful story, Guys, so glad I was able to write about it.
Love you guys.

So true, Bob. Roger is always on an even keel. I have never seen him upset at anything or anyone. Vic
Yeah, a really great guy, with a magnificent sense of humor! We are blessed to have him as our friend.

Hi my Brother Rick! Being away for years, I did not know the “heart story” about Josey; Roger was telling me about it, and I thought, wow, what an experience, what more blessings can a man have!
No need for thanks because you guys give me all the love that true friendship empowers. I was thinking last night how long I’ve known most of you guys, 50-60 years? I are truely blessed with you guys. Love you Brother.
Bob, 68 years for Ken, you and I. Don’t forget, Ken Narendorf, you and myself go back to kindergarten at St. John Bosco. You are right Josey is an Angel to her family of men. Now Roger? Victor said Rog hasn’t gotten upset or angry at anything or anyone, I’ve seen him wanna charge the field and whup some arce at the softball tourney. : – ) Prayers for the Hernandez Family.
Hey Jerry, yeah I’ve been thinking about Ken. Need to make time to go see him. Thanks for stopping by, appreciate your comments.
