Don’t Let the Old Man Out

I see an Old Man in the mirror in the morning.
His skin is wrinkled, and loose; his hair is thinning, and grey,
But there is young man inside me telling him to go away.
But at the moment, the young man wins, for he is still the stronger of the two
And goes out and starts his day.

I remember back in time, not too long ago,
That the young man was everywhere in each event of every day.
But lately the old Man has shown up unannounced,
Uninvited, and butting into the young one’s life more and more
Making the old man more visible, that he won’t be ignored.

But the old man keeps staring at me more often, and is staying near;
Coming out early morning, and dominating as much as he can,
For being a bother to the young one, is in his plan.
Could it be that through the passage of time, and with every birthday
The young one is slowly fading away?

  1. Bobby,
    The old man will keep losing as long as you want. I’m 82 and beginning to lose ground, but I’m still winning. Believe it or not nephew, numbers are just numbers. I swim almost every day and still play golf twice a week. Keep beating the old SOB

  2. Every day that I wake up somewhat healthy I thank the good Lord. My wife, my sons, daughters and grandchildren are my life. My friends are valued and appreciated . Your words are full of wisdom and truth Amigo. 👍😎
