My Cousin Adrian

In his youth, he was never shy and quite witty,
Adrian always had a big smile on his face
That no one could ever erase,
For he was always the “happy go lucky one” as you’d say,
Always a fun time with him for sure, and much love was in him I must convey.

I spent my summers in Laredo growing up in my teenage years,
With Adrian, and a bunch of cousins, on the early road to life,
We were unafraid, all thinking we had it made.
But there was something special about Adrian that was unique, that set him apart,
That I never could pin down, but for sure it was the love in his heart.

The sense that he made you feel like you were the special one,
For you see, he had those wondrous child-like qualities
We don’t see in grown ups, and I bet he always had that special love in his heart.
Now the lights are dimming on Adrian, and he needs much care;
But his eyes still tell you that down deep, Adrian is still smiling & his heart is still in there.

Love you, Primo.
