Meeting Jerry today at Holy Cross High,
Reminded me what I’ve known for most of my life,
That he’s a tireless worker for Holy Cross,
Would do anything for our school, our childhood’s highlight,
To keep the doors open, and make it shine bright.
Now, Squeak, as he’s known, is a tireless fund raiser,
Since that dreadful day;
I remember it like yesterday, way back in ‘68,
When they told us we’d have to close, and shut Holy Cross
For the money was not there anymore for us to stay.
Now, determined we were not shutting down without a fight,
We all did everything we could to raise money,
Vicki Carr helped us with concert proceeds,
Even the group “Blood Sweat & Tears”, did too,
We all did all kind of fund raisers, until we raised the revenue.
Fast forward more than fifty years and Holy Cross
Thank God, is still open, and still teaching young men/women the Holy Cross code,
On the clean and proper way to live your life.
Now, Squeak, I’m sure, you’ll keep doing everything you can to strive,
To keep the school open, and keep the Holy Cross spirit alive.
Again, Squeak, thanks for everything you do for Holy Cross!
