There was my brother Frank, Ruben, Rick and myself,
I remember it was a dark, grey, blustery weekend;
Four cold and hungry cowpokes,
With a rabbit between us to skin.
Since we didn’t bring any rations,
The rabbit would have to do,
Though it did not quench our hunger,
It did give us a few bones to chew.
When Frank starts to unload his rifle,
In the cabin where we were to sleep,
Scared us all to death with a big bang,
before we could all start counting sheep.
Now, thankful that we all were alive and had slept good,
Still pondering how close we got to the pearly gates,
Thinking what else could go awry,
When all of a sudden, an unbelievable sight, a UFO up in the sky!
Thinking back to the evening now, it seems beyond belief,
But for fifty-something years, I’ve thought of that sight,
The cabin episode, and how the UFO moved quietly from side to side,
Thankful to God that we were all still alive.
Meeting with Ruben last night, years later,
I actually had not thought about the UFO until then,
Thankful to him for confirming that sight,
Reminding me of the good times we had, and that crazy night.

We are all subject to such things happening once or twice in our lives. But years later you remember them like it was yesterday. You know what you saw and it was real to you.
Thanks for your words, Vic! So glad we reconnected. Every time I see you, all those old, beautiful memories come flooding back! Thanks for being there for me.
