He is my Mom’s first Cousin, still going strong in his 80s.
His Dad, Polo, and my Grandpa Francisco Elizondo were brothers.
Some very early childhood memories of Javier,
Were of him telling us his stories, jokes, watching over us,
I’ll always remember the love he gave & the gentle, kind person, very dear,
Priceless memories that are all still crystal clear.
When I got older, I found out that Javier
Slept on our couch in order to save money
He lived in Laredo but stayed with us in San Antonio during the week, while he went to college,
I remember his talks on growing up, on how we had to behave,
How to help people, to be kind;
Stuff that helped shape our future, I’m sure, he outlined.
Javier had a great sense of humor;
For sure he was always laughing & joking with us.
Another nice, crazy memory of him
Is of him driving us to the store
While steering with his feet, oh what sweet reminisce
With all of my brothers laughing at seeing this!
Mostly we saw Javier as someone to look up to,
Committed, righteous, strong and someone we knew we wanted to be.
He told us stories of the rancho and riding horses with our Dad,
Stories of our Elizondo ancestors,
Mama Goya “curando” or curing us from mal ojo, and stories of old,
My memories of Javier, still very precious, and as good as gold!
Thanks Javier for all you did for us, and all the love and great memories you gave us.

Like I told his Son, Javier Jr., his Dad was the most gentle, most kind hearted, warmest individual I knew growing up!
Bobby,
Thanks a million for your kind words!
I’ll be 84 this Nov 30, 2024. I’m almost a fossil.
I’m still swimming, playing golf, and going to my little 20 acre Ranchito. I go and water two oak trees I planted there.
One is my wife Lily, and the other is me.
Or at least that’s what I want mi kind and Grandkids to remember us by when we are gone.
I’m still trying to write more of my stories about my growing up years, but it’s still difficult staying at home within four walls without enjoying my liberty.
Thank God for my health, it took me approximately 80 years to understand what my ancestors used to say, “ Lo más importante en la vida es la salud “.
Love you guys forever.
So glad you like it!! Love you
You don’t kow how your words are so comforting, Javier! I need to remember them! “Lo mas importante en la vida es la salud” I need to pass this on to my Son. Write your stories of your childhood, they are not only important to your kids but to me! Love you forever!
