My Good Friend, Delfino

My good friend, Delfino, that helps us at the food pantry
Mild mannered, easy going,
You wouldn’t know it,
But he has a special gift that is really prime,
Lord be told, his cookies will get you every time.

He does not wear a cape,
But I consider him a super hero;
Not the super hero that flies, but the kind that bakes;
A mean, delicious oatmeal cookie,
That’ll hit your sweet spot every time.

I’m thinking of keeping him well stocked
With oatmeal, nuts, pecans, whatever it takes,
To ensure a continual supply of the good stuff.
So Dell, keep them coming, for you rock, when you bake
Oatmeal cookies so good, better than cake!

Now, Dell, I know you don’t like poems other than
The “Mary had a little lamb” kind, so I’ll close for now,
So to give more time to get back to your baking, you hear?
To those prized cookies of yours,
So now you know my intentions are crystal clear.

Thanks for the delicious oatmeal cookies, Dell!
