Since our 1970 class is having our 55th reunion this year,
Jerry, Carlos, and I recently visited
Our beloved Holy Cross.
The message I got was clear,
I certainly got more than expected.
Jerry had said that we could certainly
Join the school in their monthly prayer service,
Have the school bless us,
And they could wish us well for our reunion,
But somehow got more than expected.
Guilty and nervous that I hadn’t been there in years,
But once I walked the old hallways, saw our old lockers, I was back in time,
Imagining, and seeing Brother Stanley giving us his smile, or his stern stare,
Brother Harold teaching us math, Brother Rene teaching us about life, walking around with his bolt, or Brother Dooling teaching us Spanish & taking points off,
Or expecting to see Felix, Rick, Ruben, David, Vic, Pat, Johnny, the Quates, or other fellow classmates there.
For you see, Holy Cross, for me, is not just a building, or a place;
It seemed to be some magical spot in my heart,
A sweet memory that reminded me of my youth from long ago,
They taught us how to live your life correctly, the Holy Cross Code way,
Walking that hallway again,
Just like we did as young men, way back then.
Giving thanks to the Almighty now,
For giving me a life so sweet and long.
But going back through that old hall,
Mostly want to thank God
For giving us Holy Cross, that for me,
Just got my life on the right track, and started it all.
First all, I want to thank Jerry for encouraging Carlos and I to go visit. Also want to thank Principal Escobedo for his hospitality, and most of all, want to thank the student body that certainly exhibited the qualities of a Holy Cross Man/Woman… btw, learn the HC Code, you’ll be a better person!
Of course, also want to thank my Holy Cross Classmate-Brothers, for your undying friendship/kinship all these years, a friendship that is hard to put into words.

You’ve made your parents proud. All the hard work and effort they put into sending you both there has paid off big dividends, don’t think for one moment they weren’t there with you. : – ).
Got to love it: produced good Memories and a pleasant smile.
Thanks Bob
So glad you enjoyed it, Pat. Best regards to you and Jane, hugs.
Your comment brought a good smile to my face, Jerry. Yeah, Dad and Mom made sure I went there for all the right reasons. Hugs Brother.
