A lot of folks don’t know,
Like most Americans,
That I have a variety of ancestral members;
From Native American Apache, Mexican, and even German,
To the long forgotten Jewish tribe, Ashkenazi.
A few days before my cancer surgery,
I woke up feeling that my immediate family, wifey, Rob & Chelsea;
My Mom, Dad, mis dos Abuelitas, Mama Julia, & even Mama Goya,
Were all sending me a clear message
With their prayers, thoughts, and most assuringly, love.
A good feeling it is, to the nth degree;
Because lately I’ve been putting off my feelings,
Saying whatever happens, happens, and is meant to be.
But my faith in God Almighty somehow tugs back at me, and pulls me in,
Knowing I will be alright because of Him.
